The GP Tech Conference has come to an end last week, lots of news have been introduced about the promising future of Dynamics GP, which includes the roadmap of the product, the promising enhancements to be introduced in the next release along with the Intelligent Edge.

Microsoft has published the roadmap of the product up until 2020 which promises Dynamics GP clients with promising and core enhancements to the product. Most interesting of all is that Dynamics GP 2018 R2 will be released in October 2018.

In addition to the various features and enhancements which are to be provided in the next release of Dynamics GP which will cover wide aspects of financial, sales and purchasing modules, the intelligence edge is a new concept introduced by Microsoft to literally “bridge the digital and real world”, as declared by Microsoft; “it will enable the businesses to deliver seamless experience and compute capabilities wherever data exists, either in the cloud or offline.

The intelligent bridge will enable on-premises Microsoft Dynamics ERPs specifically including Dynamics GP, NAV, SL and Business Central (On Premises) to synchronize data with a cloud instance of Dynamics 365 Business Central and get access to all the interesting and powerful features such as; power BI, Power App, Flow and other powerful analytics tools.

In brief, the intelligence bridge will provide data synchronization utility which will open the horizons for existing on-premises Dynamics ERPs to the wide azure services along with mobile accessibility features.What does that mean in simple words, remember with previous versions when Microsoft introduced the Power BI  as part of the reporting tools setup inside Dynamics GP, with that feature … we could deploy Power BI reports and dashboards on the cloud, and then get them synced into Dynamics GP Homepage as illustrated below:
